NBA free agency: Greg Oden to host 3 teams this week, according to report

Greg Oden looks to take the next step in his comeback by finding a new team soon.

USA TODAY Sports

It appears Greg Oden could be nearing a decision on where he'll continue his comeback, as Jeff Goodman and Marc Stein of ESPN.com report he's scheduled three meetings this week with suitors. The Miami Heat, New Orleans Pelicans and Sacramento Kings will all have executives present to watch the former top pick work out in person.

Since suffering a major knee injury during the 2009 season, Oden has worked to return to the NBA despite years of injury woes. Once considered an elite prospect and possible franchise player, the problems derailed his career and forced him to sit out the past three seasons entirely.

Now finally close to healthy after undergoing a third microfracture surgery in February 2012, Oden appears to be near a decision on where to sign. With the suitors ranging from the two-time defending champions to younger clubs like Sacramento and New Orleans, he’s clearly considering a wide variety of options.

The Heat have generally been considered the favorite in recent months, Goodman and Stein write, but other teams continue to press for his services. He might find a bigger opportunity on a squad that isn’t gunning to win the title next season.
