Just a few days ago, an agreement between Kyle Korver and the Brooklyn Nets seemed imminent. But now the Nets are "out of the running" for Korver's services, according to ESPN's Chris Broussard.

A deal between the Nets and Kyle Korver had reportedly been “in the bag,” but now it appears that the sharpshooter will be too expensive.

The Nets only have the taxpayer mid-level exception starting at $3.18 million to offer free agents this year, and many thought heading into free agency that Korver would receive a more lucrative contract thanks to his excellent season with the Atlanta Hawks. However, ESPN's Marc Stein reported late Sunday night that Korver to the Nets was "in the bag."
Korver taking less money to play in Brooklyn would have made some sense, as he'd be joining a likely contender. Also, Korver has a good relationship with Nets point guard Deron Williams going back to their days with the Utah Jazz. But Korver clearly has far better offers elsewhere, and it appears that he will look to nab one of those offers.
As for the Nets' next move, they may look to come to terms with the man who essentially replaced Korver with the Chicago Bulls last year: Marco Belinelli. Eric Pincus of HOOPSWORLD reported Monday that the Nets and Belinelli were discussing a deal at the taxpayer mid-level exception.
