The Detroit Pistons and Milwaukee Bucks are close to finalizing a deal that would send free-agent point guard Brandon Jennings to the Motor City in a sign-and-trade, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski. ESPN's Marc Stein also reported the news and added that Jennings would likely receive a contract for three years and $25 million.

The Detroit Pistons and Milwaukee Bucks are working on a sign-and-trade that would send Brandon Jennings to Detroit for Brandon Knight and two other players.

Wojnarowski reports that the Pistons will ship young point guard Brandon Knight to Milwaukee in return. Center Slava Kravtsov and forward Khris Middleton will also be included in the package sent to the Bucks.

What is Brandon Jennings' value as a point guard?The deal comes despite Detroit general manager Joe Dumars publicly dismissing any talks involving Jennings earlier this summer. Jennings was asking for more than the Bucks were willing to give him and appeared ready to accept a qualifying offer that would pay him $4.5 million next season before becoming an unrestricted free agent.
The Bucks looked ready to move on from Jennings and signed Atlanta Hawks point guard Jeff Teague to an offer sheet this offseason, but the Hawks matched Teague's contract. In the end, Milwaukee elected to trade Jennings and secure the younger Knight, who has two years left on his rookie contract.
Jennings averaged 17.5 points and 6.5 assists for Milwaukee last season. Knight averaged 13.3 points and 4.0 assists per game last year, his second NBA season.
