The Dallas Mavericks announced on Wednesday that they have signed free-agent point guard Devin Harris. The deal will pay Harris the veteran's minimum for one season.
NBA free-agency: Devin Harris, Mavericks agree to contract
Harris is officially returning to Dallas. The contract agreed to at the beginning of free agency was canceled due to a toe injury, but that was apparently cleared up.

This isn’t the first contract Harris and the Mavs have agreed to with the two originally inking a deal early on in free agency that would have paid Harris $9 million over the course of a three-year contract. That contract was torn up, however, after the Mavericks learned an injury to Harris’s toe would require offseason surgery.
Harris should be a nice addition for a Dallas team that was able to add Jose Calderon, Monta Ellis and a host of ancillary pieces. If his contracted was restructured to pay him less than originally anticipated, Dallas could be getting a bargain on a player that started 34 games in the NBA last season.
If the toe injury causes any lingering effects this season, though, it’s only going to cause people to wonder further about what happened to the Devin Harris that was an All-Star during the 2008-09 season.
