The Jazz cleared the cap hold Paul Millsap put on their salary.

The Jazz absorbed $24 million in expiring contracts from the Golden State Warriors while sending out only Kevin Murphy's $788,000. In order to make the deal while staying under the salary cap, the Jazz needed to clear Millsap's $11 million cap hold.
This does not rule out a return for Millsap, but makes it highly unlikely. The Jazz have roughly $9 million in salary cap space after absorbing the expiring contracts of Richard Jefferson, Andris Biedrins and Brandon Rush. Millsap made $8.6 million last season. He was the team's second-leading scorer (14.6 points per game) and rebounder (7.1 rebounds per game).
Utah drafted Millsap in the second round of the 2007 NBA Draft. Frontcourt mate Al Jefferson just signed a three-year contract with the Charlotte Bobcats, and the Jazz have youth at both center and power forward to develop as they move forward.
