NBA free agency: Shaun Livingston, Nets reportedly reach agreement on one-year deal

Shaun Livingston has signed on to back up Deron Williams in Brooklyn next season.

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

The Brooklyn Nets have found their new backup point guard after agreeing to a one-year deal with free agent Shaun Livingston on Saturday. First reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the deal is worth the league minimum.

For a team that can't offer much money to free agents, landing Livingston on a veteran's minimum contract is a nice move for Brooklyn. After getting a decent performance for cheap from C.J. Watson last season, the Nets hope to do the same this season with the former No. 4 overall pick.

Once considered one of the most talented prospects in the sport, Livingston has battled back from incredible lengths after injuries nearly derailed his career. Splitting last season between the Washington Wizards and Cleveland Cavaliers, Livingston averaged 6.3 points, 3.3 assists and 2.4 rebounds over 66 games.
