Bucks, Hawks reportedly discussing Brandon Jennings/Jeff Teague deal

The Bucks and Hawks have had discussions about swapping restricted free-agent point guards Brandon Jennings and Jeff Teague. Such a deal would reunited Teague with Larry Drew in Milwaukee.

Milwaukee Bucks coach Larry Drew could be reunited with his old point guard Jeff Teague as the Bucks and Atlanta Hawks have discussed a possible sign-and-trade swap involving restricted free agents Teague and Brandon Jennings, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

Earlier in the free agency period, it appeared that Jennings would return to Milwaukee, as he proclaimed that he had “unfinished business” to take care of. Furthermore, it also appeared as if the Bucks wanted to retain Jennings.

But because of Drew’s prior relationship with Teague, the Bucks began to show interest in a reunion. Stein reports that the talks haven’t yet hit the “serious” stage.

In addition to the familiarity with Drew, Teague likely would come a bit cheaper than Jennings without a significant drop-off in production. Teague averaged 14.6 points and 7.2 assists while shooting 45.1 percent from the field last season. Jennings did score more with an average of 17.5 points, but he shot only 39.9 percent overall and handed out fewer assists per game.

If this swap was pulled off, the Hawks would likely be out of the running for Monta Ellis. The Hawks and Ellis have been talking about a possible deal, but considering the not-so-successful history of Ellis and Jennings in Milwaukee, a reunion in Atlanta probably wouldn't be a good idea.
