The Detroit Pistons will bring in former player Rasheed Wallace as an assistant coach for next season, Vincent Goodwill of the Detroit News reports. He'll mostly work with developing the team's young players in his first coaching gig after calling it quits as a player earlier this year.

A star with Detroit from 2004-09, Wallace helped lead the Pistons to multiple NBA Finals appearances and a championship in his first year. Though he's known for the constant technical fouls he accrued, Goodwill notes he was often regarded as one of the game's most intelligent players.
On a young Pistons team featuring big men Greg Monroe, Andre Drummond and rookie Tony Mitchell, Wallace should have some serious talent to work with. Goodwill cites his time tutoring Zach Randolph and Jermaine O'Neal into All-Stars as a Portland Trail Blazer for evidence of his ability to help young players.
