Derrick Rose’s preseason debut may come vs. Pacers on Oct. 5

The return of the Bulls’ superstar point guard could have an official date.

The Chicago Bulls have officially released their preseason schedule, and if superstar point guard Derrick Rose is ready to return by the opener, his debut could come on October 5 when the Bulls visit the Indiana Pacers in their first preseason game.

Everything changed for the Bulls and Rose on April 28, 2012. The superstar point guard tore his ACL after putting up 29 points, nine assists and nine rebounds in Game 1 of the first round of the 2012 NBA Playoffs. Rose has not played a game since the devastating injury.

Rose began participating in full contact practice on January 31 and has been medically cleared to return to the court since March 9. The Bulls’ medical staff placed an 8-12 month timetable for his return and October 5, 2013 would mark 17 months of recovery.

The Bulls have not commented on the potential return for Rose in October, but Rose has stated he is 100 percent and expects to be ready to start of the 2013-2014 NBA season. If Rose does not play until the regular season, the Bulls reportedly face the Heat on October 29 to open their season.
