NBA free agency: Anthony Tolliver agrees to 1-year deal with Bobcats, according to report

Anthony Tolliver will join the Bobcats on a one-year deal expected to be at the veteran’s minimum. Tolliver averaged 4.1 points and 2.5 rebounds for the Hawks last season.

USA TODAY Sports

Free-agent power forward Anthony Tolliver has agreed to a one-year deal with the Charlotte Bobcats, according to Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer. The deal is expected to be for the veteran's minimum.

Tolliver played last season with the Atlanta Hawks, posting averages of 4.1 points and 2.5 rebounds in 15.5 minutes per game. The 6'8 power forward shot just 38 percent overall and 33.8 percent from three-point land.

Tolliver had his most productive season as a pro in 2009-10, when he averaged 12.3 points and 7.3 rebounds in 44 games with the Golden State Warriors after being waived by the Portland Trail Blazers in December. He followed that up with a solid season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, shooting 40.9 percent from three.

However, Tolliver followed up those two years with an extremely poor season, shooting just 24.8 percent from long range with the Timberwolves. The Bobcats are hoping Tolliver can regain some of the shooting touch he showed in the past and be a reliable stretch 4 off the bench.

Tolliver had also received interest from the Chicago Bulls, Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Lakers.
