Clippers prefer Lamar Odom over Antawn Jamison, according to report

The Clippers have a contract on the table for Lamar Odom but the veteran is holding out in hopes of a larger offer.

USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Clippers have offered Lamar Odom the veteran's minimum to re-sign with the team, but the veteran forward is holding out for a larger contract, reports Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times. Odom has not been offered a more lucrative contract elsewhere.

The Clippers have also been linked to free agent forward Antawn Jamison. Clippers head coach and senior vice president of basketball operations Doc Rivers had dinner with Jamison, but Los Angeles ultimately decided their preferred free agent target is Odom. Jamison had been led to believe he was the Clippers' first choice prior to the new development, according to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports.

Rivers was swayed by "rave" reviews about Odom, who teammates and even former coach Vinny Del Negro called a great teammate, according to Spears. The Clippers have informed Jamison's camp of their preference and now wait for Odom's decision.

Odom averaged career-lows in minutes and points per game and was the third big off the bench for the Clippers last season.
