NBA rumors: Knicks looking at Ivan Johnson, Cole Aldrich among other big men

The Knicks are trying to round out their roster with a big man that will sign for the veteran’s minimum.

The New York Knicks don't have room under their salary cap to sign a marquee player, but they could be angling toward getting one of the Internet's favorite players. Ivan Johnson is one of a slew of big men the Knicks are interested in, according to ESPN New York's Jared Zwerling, but that will likely only happen if it's on a deal for the veteran's minimum.

The 29-year-old cut his teeth in the NBA Development League and Korea following a college career that ended at Cal State San Bernardino, but he was given an opportunity with the Atlanta Hawks over the past few seasons. Johnson made the most of that opportunity, too, averaging 6.5 points and 3.9 rebounds in 15 minutes of playing time -- all the while being lauded for his hustle, tenacity, gold teeth and bulldogishness in the paint.

The Knicks have other options they're looking at if Johnson isn't inclined to settle for the vet's minimum just yet, according to Zwerling. Chief among them is former lottery pick Cole Aldrich, but Hamed Haddadi, Jerome Jordan, Gani Lawal, Shavlik Randolph and Henry Sims are also possibilities.
