The 2013 FIBA Africa Championship’s knockout tournament enters its second day of action on Tuesday when four more games will be played to complete the first round. The favorites all advanced on Monday and, due to a lack of depth, that will likely be the case on Tuesday as well.
2013 FIBA Africa schedule: Nigeria and Tunisia should coast on Tuesday
The first round of the 2013 FIBA Africa championship’s knockout tournament concludes Tuesday with four more games to decide the quarterfinal participants.

Tunisia and Nigeria both went undefeated in pool play, earning the right to play winless Egypt and Central Africa Republic, respectively -- neither of which should give the higher seed any trouble considering they were two of the tournament favorites heading into the event (Nigeria is particularly loaded with Al-Farouq Aminu, Ike Diogu, Ben Uzoh and Gani Lawal all having NBA experience).
The other two games on Tuesday’s docket should be a bit closer, however.
Senegal went 2-1 while Rwanda went 1-2 in pool play, but the team from Senegal has underachieved mightily considering they have a pair of former NBA big men -- Saer Sene and Hamady Ndiaye -- patrolling the paint. Rwanda doesn’t have any players American fans would recognize, but they did force an overtime game in their game against a very tough Tunisia team for one of their two losses.
Tuesday’s upset special takes place in the lone remaining game as the Republic of Congo (1-2) has a good chance of defeating Cape Verde (2-1). Neither team features an NBA player, but the Congolese team faced tougher competition in pool play and it doesn’t hurt that swingman Giovan Oniangue looks to be heating up following his 31-point performance last time out.

8:30 a.m. - Tunisia (3-0) vs. Egypt (0-3)
11 a.m. - Cape Verde (2-1) vs. Republic of Congo (1-2)
1:30 p.m. - Senegal (2-1) vs. Rwanda (1-2)
4 p.m. Nigeria (3-0) vs. Central Africa Republic (0-3)
All four winners will play again Wednesday in the quarterfinal round while the losers will also be in action, playing to determine places 9-16.
