The Phoenix Suns announced the official signing of Alex Len, the No. 5 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, on Thursday evening. While terms of the deal weren't released, he'll likely receive the maximum 120 percent of the standard rookie scale, something typical for lottery picks.
Suns sign 1st-round draft pick Alex Len
Alex Len has officially signed with the Suns.

This step may have been expected, but the Suns already got their surprise shortly after the draft when Len needed surgery on his ankle right ankle due to “beginnings” of a stress fracture discovered by Phoenix’s respected medical staff. Len also had surgery on his left ankle because of a “partial” stress fracture prior to being drafted, one of the reasons he failed to go higher in the lottery.
Despite the many procedures, Len is expected to be available to open the 2013-14 season.
As a sophomore at Maryland, Len averaged 11.9 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.1 blocks in 38 games. The Suns have now signed both their 2013 first-round selections after agreeing to terms with 29th overall pick Archie Goodwin in July.
