If the New York Knicks are going to keep Carmelo Anthony beyond 2014, they may need to convince their star player that a championship is still possible. Because, at his Queens College camp on Saturday, Anthony told a group of kids that he's ready to win now.

The Knicks star doesn’t sound especially optimistic about his chances of winning a championship.

“My window is closing. I’m trying to bring a championship to New York ASAP,” according to Marc Berman of the New York Post.
Despite leading teams to the playoffs nearly every season of his career, Anthony knows he’ll ultimately judged for his inability to win a title. He later said he wasn’t specifically referring to New York regarding his closing title window, but the comments are admittedly ominous as free agency looms next summer.

Anthony said he hasn’t thought about his opt-out clause yet, but he did discuss his love of playing at Madison Square Garden to campers and said that “New York is the greatest city to play in the world.”
Still, it was a somewhat surprising bit of insight from Anthony considering he’s yet to reach 30. After a resurgent 2012-13 in which he led the league in points per game, he should presumably have a few more years of playing at a high level before slowing down.
Oh, and he loves the Andrea Bargnani trade.
“Absolutely, I thought it was a steal. I hate to lose Novak and Camby but when you get something like that in return, it’s a win-win situation. Hopefully Bargnani will come in here and prove something and be ready to rock.”
We can probably count Anthony among players who shouldn’t become GM’s post-retirement:
