FIBA Asia 2013 schedule: Japan vs. Jordan to determine last participant in quarterfinals

There isn’t a lot of intrigue left for the last day of the second round’s round-robin tournament at the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship tournament, but Japan could earn themselves a quarterfinals berth with a big win over Jordan.

The 2013 FIBA Asia Championship tournament will conclude second-round action early Wednesday morning with a six-game schedule. The top four teams in each group will advance to the knockout stage with the top three finishers qualifying for the 2014 FIBA World Cup, the next step in ensuring a spot at the 2016 Olympics.

The game to watch in Group E will take place between Japan and Jordan. Japan’s lone win in the tournament is against winless Hong Kong, but a decisive victory over Jordan would vault the team featuring the man formerly known as J.R. Henderson into the quarterfinals. The other games in Group E will feature an undefeated Chinese Taipei taking on Qatar and a Philippines team facing the already-eliminated squad from Hong Kong.

There isn’t a truly compelling game happening in the other division Wednesday morning with Iran, China, Korea and Kazakhstan area already scheduled to advance from Group F, barring a crazily-lopsided blowout.

The entire schedule is included below, listed in Eastern Time:

10:30 p.m. (Tuesday night) -- Japan (1-3) vs. Jordan (2-3), Group E

12:45 a.m. (Wednesday morning) -- Iran (5-0) vs. Kazakhstan (2-2), Group F

3 a.m. -- Chinese Taipei (5-0) vs. Qatar (3-1), Group E

5:45 a.m. -- Bahrain (2-3) vs. China (3-2), Group F

8:30 a.m. -- Hong Kong (0-4) vs. Philippines (4-1), Group E

10:30 a.m. -- India (1-4) vs. Korea (3-1), Group F
