NBA free agency: Chris Duhon receiving interest from 76ers, Knicks

Duhon could head back East next season after spending 2012-13 with Los Angeles.

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sport

The New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers are showing interest in signing free-agent guard Chris Duhon, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports. He'd be able to give either team a cheap, experienced backcourt presence.

A nine-year veteran out of Duke, Duhon spent the 2012-13 season playing for the Los Angeles Lakers. Getting a surprisingly large slice of playing time due to injuries, he still averaged just 2.9 points and 2.9 assists in 46 games with L.A.

Known for his passing ability, Duhon can run an offense, but struggles to score. He’s an adequate shooter from beyond the arc, hitting 36 percent of his career attempts, but he’s just a 39-percent shooter from the field given his inability to score near the basket.

A Knick from 2008-10, Duhon’s peak as an NBA player came while starting for New York five years ago. Appearing in 78 games as the starting point guard, he averaged 11.1 points and 7.2 assists on a mediocre Mike D’Antoni-led team. After reuniting with D’Antoni last season in L.A., maybe he’ll head back to New York this time around.
