Dave Telep is leaving ESPN for a position in the San Antonio Spurs front office, according to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski.
Dave Telep joins Spurs’ scouting staff, according to report
The longtime ESPN recruiting guru is taking his talents to the NBA.

Telep has worked as a well-respected scouting guru for years, leading the cable network's coverage of high school basketball recruiting. He will reportedly work in a scouting coordinator role for the NBA draft in San Antonio under the direction of general manager R.C. Buford.
The Spurs seem to draft and develop their players as well as any organization in the league, and Telep’s impact should only improve their scouting department, given his strong ties to the AAU and college circuits. With the 2014 and 2015 drafts expected to be littered with talent, Telep’s impact should be felt immediately as the front office begins scouting potential targets once the college hoops season begins.
The Spurs are yet to confirm the report as of early Sunday afternoon. An official announcement may come after the holiday weekend.
