The semifinals of the 2013 FIBA Americas Championship take place on Tuesday when Mexico faces Argentina and Puerto Rico squares off against the Dominican Republic.
2013 FIBA Americas schedule: Mexico, Argentina tip off semifinals
NBA big men Gustavo Ayon and Luis Scola will duke it out in Tuesday’s first semifinal contest between top-seeded Mexico and Argentina.


The first game of the day will feature a battle of two NBA big men in Gustavo Ayon and Luis Scola. Ayon has paced Mexico in the tournament with averages of 16.4 points and eight rebounds while Scola's led Argentina with averages of 18.4 points and 6.5 rebounds. Mexico went 6-2 through the first two rounds of tournament while Argentina went 5-3.
The second game, between Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, involves two 6-2 teams. Renaldo Balkman has been dominant for Puerto Rico, sporting averages of 20.1 points and 8.7 rebounds. James Feldeine leads the Dominican Republic in scoring with 14.8 points per game.
All four teams qualified for the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain by advancing to the semifinals. Tuesday's winners will square off in the championship game on Wednesday.
