NBA free agency: Khalif Wyatt to sign with 76ers, per report

The Temple product will sign a partially guaranteed, multi-year contract with Philadelphia.

USA TODAY Sports

Undrafted rookie free agent Khalif Wyatt will sign a partially guaranteed, multi-year contract with the Philadelphia 76ers, according to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Wyatt played his college ball at Temple, so he's very familiar with the city of Philadelphia. The 6'4 guard was a standout scorer at Temple, averaging 20.5 points in his senior season. In his final college game, Wyatt scored 31 points against top-seeded Indiana in the third round of the 2013 NCAA Tournament, with much of that coming against No. 2 draft pick Victor Oladipo.

Wyatt displayed his scoring ability with the Sixers at the Orlando Summer League, leading the team with 13.8 points per game. The 22-year-old also spent some time running the offense, showing off some impressive ballhandling and passing skills.

Wyatt is expected to be on Philadelphia's opening night roster, and he could work himself into the rotation if he impresses throughout training camp and the preseason. The Sixers do have Michael Carter-Williams, Tony Wroten and now Darius Morris in place at point guard, but the depth at shooting guard is almost non-existent. While Evan Turner can certainly play the 2, Jason Richardson may miss the whole season and James Anderson has proven very little in his three-year NBA career.

If Wyatt can’t crack the rotation out of the gates, he could spend time with the Delaware 87ers, the Sixers’ D-League affiliate.
