EuroBasket schedule 2013: Italy faces Croatia on busy Saturday

The Italians will look to remain in first place on Saturday while the talented Spaniards take on Finland.

Christof Koepsel

EuroBasket play continues on Saturday afternoon in Slovenia with three Group F matchups on the slate.

The first game of the day is arguably the most intriguing as the first-place Italians take on the third-place Croatians. Italy is coming off its first loss despite strong scoring performances from Alessandro Gentile and Marco Belinelli, dropping its record to 5-1 overall in EuroBasket play. Bojan Bogdanovic is the player to watch for Croatia given his ability to score and crash the glass. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. ET.

At 11:45 a.m. comes the second game of the day, between Spain and Finland. The Spaniards have as much talent as anyone, led by sharpshooter Rudy Fernandez, center Marc Gasol and crafty point guard Ricky Rubio. Finland sits in last place among Group F teams, and they'll need a big performance out of leading scorer Petteri Koponen if they hope to pull the upset.

The final matchup of the day will feature Slovenia and Greece. The second-place Slovenians are led by point guard Goran Dragic, who leads the team in scoring and assists. He will likely be matched up against Greece's leading scorer, Vassilis Spanoulis, on the perimeter. Tipoff for this one is scheduled for 3 p.m.
