Former Denver Nuggets coach George Karl is being sued by his long-time agent Bret Adams for improperly withholding fees, according to Jeff Bell of the Columbus Business First.

Karl’s agent of nearly 20 years alleges the longtime coach stopped paying him in January.

Adams filed the suit last week in the U.S. District Court in Columbus. The suit alleges that Karl hasn’t paid Adams since January, a breach in the contract between the two. The suit claims the contract calls for Karl to pay Adams $10,000 per month and also requires Karl to provide new opportunities to Adams through introductions and referrals of other coaches in need of representation.
The suit also alleges that Adams is due payments through the 2018 NBA season. Adams is currently seeking compensatory damages in excess of $75,000, as well as attorney fees and other costs.
Adams has represented Karl for nearly 20 years and helped negotiate Karl's record $7 million a year deal in 2001. Adams has negotiated more than $50 million in contracts for Karl with the Nuggets and Milwaukee Bucks.
Karl was fired by the Nuggets in June and hasn’t landed another coaching job.
