After a tumultuous rookie season that saw him not play a single game for the Houston Rockets, Royce White is all set to participate in training camp for the Philadelphia 76ers, according to Tom Moore of The Intelligencer.

White has been participating in the Sixers’ voluntary offseason workouts which started earlier in September. Philadelphia acquired White in a trade with Houston in July, and Moore reports that the Sixers got the Rockets to pick up the former first-rounders $1.7 million salary.

Last season in Houston, White missed the first week of training camp as he feuded with the Rockets over a proper mental health plan to deal with his anxiety disorder. White was then suspended by the Rockets later in the year for refusing to accept a D-League assignment, although the 22-year-old ultimately did report to the Rio Grande Vipers.
White showed off some of his considerable talent in the D-League, averaging 11.4 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 25.6 minutes per game.
While there are still no guarantees White can make things work in the NBA, showing up to camp on time is a good start. If White proves he can play and also agree with the Sixers on a mental health protocol, he may just be able to have a nice little NBA career.
