The Philadelphia 76ers announced Friday morning that second-year forward Arnett Moultrie underwent surgery on his left ankle and won't return until at least January. Moultrie injured the ankle last week and went under the knife on Thursday.

Moultrie, the 27th pick in the 2012 draft, also dealt with an ankle issue last year. The 22-year-old suffered a sprain during a predraft workout and spent most of the offseason getting back into shape.
Moultrie barely played at the beginning of last season before finally getting more of an opportunity toward the end of the end. Moultrie saw over 20 minutes of action in five of the last six games, and he averaged 8.5 points and 6.5 rebounds during that span. For the season, the 6’10 big man appeared in 47 games, averaging 3.7 points and 3.1 rebounds in 11.5 minutes per game.
With the Sixers rebuilding, Moultrie likely would have seen an uptick in minutes this year. This injury is a setback to Moultrie’s development, and now the hope is he can recover in a timely fashion.
