The first round-robin portion of the 2013 FIBA Americas wrapped up Tuesday night in Caracas, Venezuela, meaning two teams will be taking their talents and going home. One of those teams was already decided, as Paraguay finished in Group B without a win, but Group A’s elimination was decided during the game between Brazil and Jamaica.

Jamaica won its game in the final seconds to keep its dream of advancing to the FIBA World Championships alive and has Brazil hoping for an Wild Card invite into the big tournament in Spain.

That means Brazil is out of the running and is left hoping for a Wild Card invite to next year's FIBA World Cup, while Jamaica lives to see another day.

Argentina 98, Mexico 78 -- Luis Scola led all scorers with 25 points and added four rebounds and four assists to go along with one blocked shot as Argentina defeated Mexico to finish atop Group B. The Argentine team used good ball movement and spacing to exploit the Mexican defense, while they countered with the strong play of Hector Hernandez inside. The former Fresno State Bulldog finished with 21 points and six rebounds.
For Mexico, it was the first defeat of the championship, and they remain in second place in Group B in the preliminary round.
Jamaica 78, Brazil 76 -- Jamaican point guard Akeem Scott sank a pair of free throws with 20 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to give Jamaica a narrow win against Brazil and keep its hope of advancing to the World Championships alive.
Brazil’s Marcelo Huertas scored six points and dished out 12 assists, while Joao Paulo Batista added nine points and nine rebounds.
Brazil went 0-4 in the preliminary round and was eliminated from the tournament with the loss.
Canada 93, Uruguay 67 -- After a power outage delayed play, Canada picked up right where they left off and made quick work of Uruguay. Andrew Nicholson was impressive for Canada, leading the team with 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the field. Teammates Cory Joseph (17 points) and Tristan Thompson (14 points) also starred for Canada.
Bruno Fitipaldo led the way for Uruguay, finishing with 18 points. With the defeat, Uruguay will still advance past the preliminary round in Group A as only one team from both Group A and B will be eliminated.
