NBA free agency: Rasual Butler agrees to deal with Pacers, per report

The veteran forward will join Pacers camp on a non-guaranteed contract.

Veteran forward Rasual Butler has agreed to a non-guaranteed deal with the Indiana Pacers, according to Shams Charania of RealGM.

Butler, 34, played for the Pacers at Orlando Summer League in July, averaging 6.2 points and 3.0 rebounds in 13.8 minutes per game. The 6'7 forward last played in the NBA during the 2011-12 season with the Toronto Raptors. He appeared in 34 games and got 14 starts, posting averages of 3.2 points and 1.9 rebounds in 13.3 minutes per game.

Butler was a late second-round pick in 2002 by the Miami Heat. The 10-year veteran had the best stretch of his career with the New Orleans Hornets and Los Angeles Clippers from 2008-10, when he started 138 out of 164 games and averaged 11.6 points. He's a career 35.8 percent three-point shooter.

Since Butler’s deal is non-guaranteed, he’ll have to prove himself in training camp and preseason in order to make Indiana’s roster. The Pacers currently have 13 guaranteed contracts on the team, with 15 being the NBA maximum.
