San Antonio Spurs guard Danny Green will be out of action for about a month after breaking the second metacarpal bone in his left hand, the team announced on Monday. Green, who has averaged 7.4 points and 3.0 rebounds per game, injured the hand in the first half of the Spurs' 104-86 win against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday.

The injury was initially called a sprained finger, but an MRI and X-ray confirmed the break.
The starting shooting guard for Gregg Popovich will likely be replaced by committee. The Spurs can play small by giving point guards Cory Joseph or Patty Mills more minutes, and they will likely shift Marco Belinelli or Manu Ginobili into the starting lineup.

Green has struggled this season compared to his 2012-13 campaign. Last year, the surprising shooting guard averaged 10.5 points and shot 42.9 percent from three-point range. His accuracy has dipped to 38.4 percent shooting in 2013-14, and Green is only hitting 41.7 percent overall, the lowest percentage of shots he's knocked down since his rookie season with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
