Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra was ineligible because he led the Eastern squad last year. Similarly, Gregg Popovich will not coach the Western Conference team this year.

Vogel is unquestionably deserving of the honor as the Pacers are off to a blazing start at 30-7, a record that’s good enough for top billing in the Eastern Conference.

Vogel has the Pacers playing stellar defense as always, and has benefited from the strong individual play of breakout guard Lance Stephenson, in addition to Paul George, David West and Roy Hibbert.
