Kenyon Martin injury: Knicks forward leaves game with sprained ankle

The New York Knicks forward left the game during the second quarter on Thursday night and did not return.

The New York Knicks took another injury hit Thursday night as big man Kenyon Martin left the game against the Indiana Pacers in the second quarter with an ankle sprain. He will not return.

Martin played just seven minutes before he appeared to roll his ankle with 9:41 left in the second quarter. Martin had already been battling ankle issues earlier in the month and the injury couldn't come at a worst time for the Knicks, who are battling to cut into the playoff race in the Eastern Conference.

New York's frontline is already weakened with Tyson Chandler returning from bronchitis recently. Martin has been a steady part of the Knicks rotation, averaging 5.8 points on 52 percent shooting and 5.4 rebounds over the last five contests.
