USA Basketball releases player pool for 2014 World Cup tryouts
The 28 possibilities for the 2014 World Cup roster have been reported.

USA Basketball announced a group of 28 players who will vie for 12 roster spots on the national team that will represent the United States in the FIBA World Cup held in Spain this summer, according to Marc Stein and Dave McMenamin of ESPN.com.

Leading the list of names are Kevin Durant and Kevin Love, who had already committed to play for the national squad. They are joined by 2012 national team members James Harden, Anthony Davis, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Andre Iguodala, Deron Williams and Tyson Chandler, plus a number of other NBA stars.
Dwight Howard leads the list of significant additions after taking a six-year break from participating as part of Team USA. Paul George, Stephen Curry and LaMarcus Aldridge are three newcomers who could make the final cut.
Blake Griffin, DeMarcus Cousins, Damian Lillard, Kawhi Leonard, Gordon Hayward, Bradley Beal, Andre Drummond, Kenneth Faried, David Lee, Kyrie Irving, Russell Westbrook, Klay Thompson, Kyle Korver and Derrick Rose round out the 28-man group.
This group covers a three-year cycle, so players such as LeBron and Rose could still play in the 2016 Olympics after being listed.
