Coach Mike D'Antoni hopes Lakers point guard Steve Nash will be able to return from a back injury on Tuesday when Los Angeles hosts the Indiana Pacers, according to the Los Angeles Times' Mike Bresnahan.
Steve Nash injury: Lakers hope guard returns from back issue on Tuesday
The Los Angeles Lakers will reevaluate Steve Nash’s back injury Monday.

It’s still unclear how realistic that is until the Lakers use Monday to evaluate Nash’s back injury that has limited to six regular season games thus far, reports ESPN Los Angeles’ Dave McMenamin. The point guard hasn’t played a game since Nov. 10.
Whenever Nash is able to return, his role on the team likely won’t be what it was once anticipated to be.
I asked D'Antoni if/when @SteveNash returns, any chance he gets back to 30-min player? Unclear. Goal is "to give us what he can give us."
— KEVIN DING (@KevinDing) January 23, 2014 Even if healthy, it's hard to envision Nash regaining his starting role. If the Lakers as a team ever have a backcourt that's completely healthy, it'll be a tough decision for D'Antoni with Steve Blake, Jordan Farmar and the upstart Kendall Marshall also along for the ride.
It's Marshall, the point guard drafted by the Phoenix Suns in 2012 as a potential heir once Nash was traded to Los Angeles, that has been the most pleasant surprise. He is averaging 9.8 points and 9.3 assists per game since being traded from Phoenix to Washington, then cut, and then signed by the Lakers out of the D-League.
