Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose plans to participate with USA Basketball this summer after recovering from his second major knee injury, RealGM reports. Rose will miss the remainder of the 2013-14 NBA season after undergoing late-November surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee.
Derrick Rose plans to participate with Team USA this summer
Before getting back on the court with the Bulls, Rose will join his fellow Americans for some international hoops this summer.

The former MVP announced the news on his Facebook page Friday:
I’m looking forward to getting back on the court this summer and having the chance to represent our country. It’s an honor to play for Team USA and Coach K.
Earlier this week, USA Basketball released its official 28-man player pool for the next international cycle, which includes the 2014 World Cup in Spain. Some were surprised to see Rose listed considering his recent injury woes, which include the torn ACL in 2012, but joining Team USA could have him in better shape for the start of the NBA season.
Rose will presumably participate in the World Cup, which takes place Aug. 30 to Sept. 14 throughout Spain, although it can’t be confirmed at this point. It would be the guard’s first international competition since the 2010 FIBA World Championships, when he helped lead USA to the gold medal.
With many of the country’s top players skipping the event for a number of reasons, Rose would likely be able to take a starring role if he looks healthy in the weeks leading up to the event. Certainly, it would be quite the showcase for Rose if he wants to show the world just where he’s at physically following the two knee injuries.
If Rose sits out, we'll likely see Stephen Curry, Kyrie Irving and possibly Russell Westbrook vie for minutes as the United States' top point guard. The Americans will hold workouts prior to the event in order to trim the roster down to a final 12-man group.
