There have been some magnificent scoring performances over the past couple of weeks in the NBA with Carmelo Anthony's 62 and Kevin Durant's 54 point games. Those are somewhat expected, though, as we've com to realize that they are two of the games best scorers. What we didn't expect was the career and franchise high 51 points that Raptors guard Terrence Ross scored against the Clippers.
NBA scores: Terrence Ross scores 51 points, Durant records triple-double
The Raptors lost in a shootout with the Clippers, but Terrence Ross looked like a star. There were some other games, too.

Toronto lost to the Clippers 126-118 in a shootout, but it was Ross’ 51 points and 29 shots that really headlines this game. The former Washington Husky is billed as a scorer, but he’s only averaging 10 points per game. This was a special performance from the second year guard.
Jamal Crawford wasn't to be outdone, though. The electric veteran scored a career-high 37 points and dished out 11 assists and Blake Griffin added in 30 of his own in a game that featured very little defense.
Chicago Bulls 89, Charlotte Bobcats 87
Chicago shot just 20-of-54 inside the arc but canned 11 triples and owned the fourth quarter, sneaking out of Charlotte with a win. Most assumed the Bulls traded their way out of playoff contention by shipping out Luol Deng and waiving Andrew Bynum, but they've won 10 of their last 14 and are fifth in the Eastern Conference.
Kevin Durant scored over 30 points. Again. That’s 10 straight games that he’s scored that many points and the Thunder have won seven games in a row. He also added 14 rebounds and 10 assists to record his second triple-double of the season. This guy is pretty good at the sport of basketball, if you ask me.
Memphis Grizzlies 99, Houston Rockets 81
On Saturday, the Grizzlies beat the Rockets by one in Houston. The two teams rematched the next day and Memphis handled the Rockets again, this time on its home floor. Most impressive is that the Grizzlies held Houston to 87 and 81 point performances, two extremely low totals for such a high volume scoring team.
Atlanta Hawks 112, Milwaukee Bucks 87
Atlanta played without Jeff Teague, its starting point guard, but it didn't really matter against the lowly Bucks. At one point the Hawks led by 34 points. In Milwaukee. Without their starting point guard. Atlanta shot 53 percent from the field and nailed 13 of their 26 long range shots. The Bucks are wallowing through the 2013-14 season.
Denver Nuggets 109, Indiana Pacers 96
The Nuggets impressively handled the best team in the NBA, even after dropping their previous three straight games. Wilson Chandler led the way with 25 points and six other Nuggets scored between 12 and 15 points. The Pacers nearly lost in overtime against the Kings on Saturday and were a little sluggish against the Nuggets on Sunday. Lance Stephenson led the team with 23 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.
Utah Jazz 104, Washington Wizards 101
Enes Kanter scored 24 points off the bench and rookie point guard Trey Burke went toe-to-toe with one of the best point guards in the league, John Wall, and the Jazz came away with the win. Burke finished with 12 points and eight assists while Wall played one of his worst games of the season, scoring 13 points on 14 shots and finishing with four turnovers.
With their 33rd win on the season, the Blazers have officially matched their win total from last season. Only they've got 38 more to add to that total and conventional wisdom would suggest that they won't lose 38 games in a row. LaMarcus Aldridge led the way with 21 points and Timberwolves guard Kevin Martin finished with a game-high 30 points.
