Xavier Henry injury: Lakers guard out another week

Lakers guard Xavier Henry will continue to nurse his injured knee.

Los Angeles Lakers guard Xavier Henry will be out for another week, via Janis Carr of the Orange County Register. Henry had an MRI on Monday that showed no improvement, so he will continue to sit as his bone bruise in his knee heals. On Friday, head coach Mike D'Antoni had said that Henry would likely be out another 10-14 days, via Mike Trudell of Lakers.com, so this fits with the previous timeline.

Henry was starting at point guard before the injury in late December, and the Lakers still miss him. He's a natural shooting guard, but with Steve Nash, Steve Blake and Jordan Farmar all out with injuries of their own, Kendall Marshall has been Los Angeles' only point guard in 2014.

Nash was supposed to practice on Monday, but tweaked his back. Farmar and Blake have not been cleared to fully participate in practice, but they have ramped up individual activity. They have been ruled out for Tuesday and Friday’s games, per ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, while Nash doesn’t expect to play this week, per Bleacher Report’s Kevin Ding.

Henry is averaging 10.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 31 games this season.
