Houston Rockets shooting guard James Harden will sit out Tuesday night against the San Antonio Spurs with a bruised left thumb, reports the Houston Chronicle. It will be Harden's seventh missed game of the season after dealing with foot and ankle injuries earlier in the year.
James Harden injury: Rockets star out vs. Spurs
A thumb injury will keep Harden out against San Antonio.
As The Dream Shake notes, the Rockets are actually 4-2 without Harden this season as Dwight Howard has consistently stepped up. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich has used the Hack-a-Dwight strategy in the past, which could throw a wrench into Houston's plans, but this is far from an easy game for either team.
With Harden sidelined, the Rockets will likely start Jeremy Lin and Patrick Beverley in the backcourt Tuesday.
In 40 games this season, Harden has averaged 23.7 points, 5.5 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 1.3 steals per contest. He’s shooting 44 percent from the field, but a career-low 32 percent beyond the arc.
