Manu Ginobili injury: Spurs guard to undergo MRI on hamstring

Ginobili will miss the Spurs’ game against the Bulls on Wednesday night.

Andrew Richardson-USA TODAY Spor

San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili will undergo an MRI on his left hamstring Wednesday morning and will miss the evening's game against the Chicago Bulls, according to Jabari Brown of the San Antonio News-Express.

Ginobili injured the hamstring on a dunk in the third quarter of the Spurs' 97-90 loss to the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night:

Ginobili didn’t return to the game, finishing the night with nine points on 2-of-6 shooting.

Ginobili had an issue with his left hamstring earlier in the year, forcing him to miss two games. The 36-year-old dealt with a right hamstring injury last year, which kept him out most of April. For the season, he’s averaging 12.1 points, 4.5 assists and 3.3 rebounds.

The injury to Ginobili is just another in a long line of health woes for San Antonio. The Spurs were already without Tiago Splitter (shoulder), Kawhi Leonard (hand) and Danny Green (hand), so Ginobili's injury will make them even more shorthanded against a Bulls team that also knows a thing or two about injuries.

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich is frustrated with the injuries, but on a positive note, Popovich said Splitter could return to the lineup in the next week.
