Manu Ginobili injury: Spurs lose guard 3-4 weeks to hamstring strain

San Antonio, already hit by injury woes, will now be without the veteran Ginobili, who pulled his hamstring on Tuesday against the Rockets.

Add guard Manu Ginobili to the growing list of San Antonio Spurs players hit by the injury bug. The veteran will miss the next three to four weeks with a strained hamstring suffered in a Tuesday night loss to the Houston Rocketsaccording to Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski.

Ginobili joins Kawhi Leonard, Danny Green and Tiago Splitter on the sideline. Leonard and Green both are recovering from broken hands, while Splitter is on the mend from a shoulder injury.

Ginobili injured himself when he dunked off a drive in the 97-90 loss to Houston, but he left hamstring issue isn’t a new one. It caused the 36-year-old Argentine to miss two games earlier in January.

San Antonio has lost four of its last six games and returns home Wednesday to face the Bulls. Gregg Popovich's team will then face the Sacramento Kings at home before setting off on a nine-game rodeo road trip spanning Feb. 3 through Feb. 21. Ginobili's timeline puts his return at the tail end of that stretch, at best. Splitter and Green could potentially return in the middle of the trip, but in the meantime, Popovich will lean on a guard rotation of Tony Parker, Marco Belinelli, Cory Joseph, Patty Mills and Nando de Colo.

The Spurs signed shooting guard Othyus Jeffers to a 10-day contract last week and now seem more likely to re-sign him to a second one in order to add perimeter depth.
