Veteran center Marcus Camby is rehabbing from surgery that repaired a torn plantar fascia in his left foot and hopes to return to the NBA this season, reports MyFoxHouston.com's Mark Berman. Camby told the news station that he's only able to jog on a treadmill at this point, but he is aiming to hit the hardwood in about a month.

The 39-year-old center is eyeing a return after being cut before the 2013-14 season began.

He'd like to return with his hometown Houston Rockets. Camby joined the Rockets for training camp prior to the 2013-14 season but was waived after struggling through his foot issues. It could be a longshot for Camby to join Houston, which has a full roster, but an opportunity could open up due to injury or trade. The Rockets seem resigned to hanging on to backup center Omer Asik but can still deal him before the Feb. 20 trade deadline.
Camby played 24 games with the New York Knicks last season and averaged 1.8 points and 3.3 rebounds in 10.4 minutes per game.

Camby would be playing in his 18th NBA season should he sign with a team this year. He has career averages of 9.5 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game.
