The Pelicans received some rough news Tuesday, as Ryan Anderson’s scary fall on Friday has resulted in a herniated disc that’ll sideline him indefinitely.

Anderson suffered the injury on Friday in Boston, when he collided with the Celtics' Gerald Wallace and lay on the floor for several minutes. It was a scary scene and Anderson had to leave the court on a stretcher. He was taken to a local hospital, where he underwent a series of tests on Friday and Saturday. Initially, Anderson was thought to have a cervical stinger, but this news means he will likely be out longer than expected.
Anderson is averaging 19.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per game for the Pelicans, shooting 43.8 percent from the field, 40.9 percent from the three-point line and 95.2 percent from the free throw line. New Orleans is 15-17 on the season, three games out of a playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Pelicans are 3-7 this year without Anderson.
