Dennis Rodman apologized on Friday for comments he made in an interview on CNN criticizing Kenneth Bae, an American citizen currently imprisoned in North Korea. In a follow-up with Jethro Mullen of CNN.com, Rodman admitted to drinking beforehand:

The eccentric ex-NBA star raised eyebrows in a bizarre interview Wednesday night.
“I want to first apologize to Kenneth Bae’s family. I want to apologize to my teammates and my management team. I also want to apologize to Chris Cuomo.”
...
“I embarrassed a lot of people. I’m very sorry. At this point I should know better than to make political statements. I’m truly sorry.”
Bae and his family were “shocked” by Rodman, a fellow American, and his actions. His sister told Mullen the following:
“He was in a position to do some good and to help advocate for Kenneth. He refused to do so. But then instead he has chosen to hurl these outrageous accusations against Kenneth. He clearly doesn’t know anything about Kenneth, about his case. And so we were appalled by that.”
Rodman paid another strange visit to North Korea recently, his fourth in the last year, which include him singing “Happy Birthday” to Kim Jong Un. For his latest visit, Rodman has organized a basketball game between a team of NBA players and a team of North Koreans.
This bizarre relationship with North Korea has certainly put Rodman under fire, and understandably so. It’s all very strange, and the United States continues to stress it has no involvement.
