LeBron James calls back ‘iffy’

The Cavs star hasn’t missed any practice yet and if he does in the preseason it wouldn’t be assumed to be too serious.

Cavaliers forward LeBron James told the Cleveland media on Tuesday that he was dealing with an "iffy" back that had yet to keep him out of any practices, reports ESPN's Dave McMenamin. A minor issue at this point, McMenamin only added that James might rest as the Cavs continue two-a-day workouts.

It's uncertain what "iffy" means in this case, but it was encouraging that James stayed well after the first practice on Tuesday to get some extra shots up with Kyrie Irving.

James’ health is going to be under the microscope to a great degree, but this is possibly part of him working back into game shape. After all, James took this summer off from any professional basketball playing to lay low as his free agency played out. He also went on a diet to challenge himself, losing a noticeable amount of weight in the process. James said at media day that the weight loss had nothing to do with basketball, but there will certainly be benefits on the court.

Any back issue that might limit James’ time with his new teammates might be concerning for a team that needs to learn each others tendencies through repetition, but unless news of this lingers until the regular season it’s hard for the Cavs to be worried much at all.
