Good morning. Let’s basketball.

NO NO NO: Kevin Durant will likely miss about eight weeks after discovery of a Jones fracture in his foot. The Thunder aren’t yet sure whether KD will have surgery or attempt non-surgical healing. Regardless, the MVP will miss the first month of the regular season, which means Russell Westbrook becomes must-watch TV.

Welcome To Loud City hopes this injury will be a footnote on a successful Thunder season. As do we all.

BASED CURSE: Lil’ B, who had previously cursed Durant, had a very based comment on the injury.

BEAL TOO: Bradley Beal is out six weeks with a broken wrist. He had surgery on Sunday.

MELO CAN’T WIN: Paul Flannery with an excellent dissertation on Carmelo Anthony’s status in the NBA.

WELP: Rick Carlisle commented that underwear model Chandler Parsons is 15-20 pounds over his optimal playing weight. Parsons bristled and later posted a shirtless selfie on Instagram with a pig emoji. It turns out that while Parsons may be overweight by Carlisle’s standards, he does not look remotely overweight. So Carlisle apologized and claimed that his wife and daughter now follow Parsons on Instagram. What an odd situation.

SHOE FLY: Ronnie Price, in an attempt to slow a fast break, tosses his shoe across the court.

NBA BLOG PREVIEWS: Catch up on the Magic with Orlando Pinstriped Post, the Spurs with Pounding The Rock, the Wizards with Bullets Forever and the Pelicans with At The Hive.

LEBRON IS SOO NICE ... he’s still setting screens for Norris Cole.

HMM: Is Taj Gibson becoming a black hole?

QUELLE SURPRISE: DeMarcus Cousins’ campaign to earn five or fewer technical fouls this season is looking like a longshot. But I will ride with that Boogie laugh GIF forever.

EVERYBODY UP: The NBA’s new ad campaign is pretty neat.

’ROCK’ STARS: Grool story by Baxter Holmes on the time Bill Russell and K.C. Jones visited Alcatraz back when it was still a functional prison.

KENTUCKY COMBINE: DraftExpress has measurement and athletic testing data from the first-ever Calipari NBA Invitational.

CHARLOTTE’S MATH: Excellent conversation between John Schuhmann and Steve Clifford on the Hornets’ numbers.

GOOD LISTEN: Zach Lowe and Frank Vogel on Lowe’s podcast.

DO THE SPURS GET A PASS? Jacob Greenberg on the Danny Green headsmacker and other San Antonio mistakes.

SUPERMAN CAN STILL FLY: Jonathan Tjarks on Dwight Howard’s continued importance.

INTERESTING: In The Guardian, Caty Enders wonders why in America sports leagues need to be our moral compasses.

NASH’S GOODBYE: Bill Oram on why Steve Nash is trying so hard to stay on the court this season, his final.

Two weeks! Happy Monday. See you next time.
