Steve Nash leaves Lakers preseason game because body ‘didn’t feel quite right’

The Lakers’ point guard, who has battled numerous injuries over the last two years, may be dealing with yet another problem.

Lakers and NBA fans hoping to see flashes of the old Steve Nash got a scare Sunday night when the two-time MVP asked out of the the team's preseason game against the Warriors following the first quarter. His status for the Lakers' next preseason game against the Jazz on Thursday is in doubt.

It's unclear what exactly caused Nash to sit. Lakers coach Byron Scott would only say that Nash "didn't feel quite right," according to Lakers Nation.

The 40-year-old point guard has seen his health plummet since suffering a non-displaced fracture in his left leg early in the 2012-13 season. That injury caused nerve damage that Nash has been fighting ever since.

He returned several weeks later and played through pain before suffering a hamstring injury at the end of that year, but the health problems were just beginning. Nash played in only 15 games last season thanks to nerve root irritation stemming from an injury in November. That was only supposed to keep him out for a couple weeks, but morphed into a much bigger problem when it didn’t heal properly. Nash returned briefly in February, but was shut down for the season in March.

It’s possible Nash’s ailment isn’t serious and he’ll recover well enough to play during the regular season. He said his body felt great coming into training camp, but also admitted he’s going to be very cautious during the preseason. Nevertheless, Nash’s health is fragile, so any reports of discomfort are worth watching.
