Sam Smith, legendary NBA reporter and current scribe for Bulls.com, on John Wall:
Stop claiming John Wall isn’t a real NBA point guard
It’s nonsense.

[Bradley Beal is] one of the truly elite shooters, but Wall still really doesn't have an NBA game. Yes, he is very fast and can get to the basket, but his shot is balky and he still has trouble finding shooters in good position or knowing when to shoot or pass. They'd move up if Wall gains a better understanding of playing point guard.
Emphasis mine. Now, some facts:
1. John Wall finished with more assists (721) than any other NBA player in the 2013-14 season.
2. John Wall finished No. 2 in assists per game with 8.8, behind only Chris Paul.
3. John Wall finished No. 3 in assist percentage, behind CP3 and Kendall Marshall.
4. John Wall has finished in the top 10 in assists, assists per game and assist percentage in three of his four NBA seasons.
I’m not sure exactly what John Wall needs to do to convince everyone that he is not only capable as a point guard, but that he is pretty much the Platonic ideal of an NBA point guard, and is one of the best in the league.
I’m surprised this theory that John Wall isn’t a real point guard has survived given that we have watched John Wall kill it repeatedly. It’s nonsense.
