LeBron James’ return to Cleveland was his 4th-worst home game ever

That did not go well. At all.

David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

Wednesday night did not go well for LeBron James. With 17 points on 5-15 shooting, five rebounds, four assists and eight turnovers, it was LeBron’s fourth-worst home game ever according to Game Score (which is a boiled-down PER).

Bron Chart

LeBron has played 507 career home games in Cleveland and Miami, and one of the most anticipated of the bunch -- his would-be triumphant return home as a Cavalier reborn -- went as bad as any of them.

In case you’re wondering about the three worse games: the 2007-08 opener against Dallas (10 points on 2-11 shooting with 5 turnovers), a rookie season game against the Nets (9 points on 2-13 shooting with 5 turnovers) and a 17-minute, 0-5 shooting performance against the Rockets in 2004-05.

The good news is that there's nowhere to go but up from here for LeBron, which bodes well for the Cavaliers. Unless the curse of Taylor Swift is real, in which case all bets are off.
