Derrick Rose did not play against Minnesota due to ankle injury

The Bulls point guard missed at least one game due to an ankle injury suffered on Friday.

Not long after he suffered an ankle injury on Friday against Cleveland, Derrick Rose said the injury wasn't serious. While that may still prove to be true, it was serious enough to keep him out of at least one game, as the Chicago Bulls point guard did not play on Saturday against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Rose left Friday’s game during the fourth quarter. He rolled his ankle in the second quarter but re-entered the game before leaving again late. Rose underwent an X-ray on the ankle and results were negative, but the ankle must have been bothering him enough to keep him out of Saturday’s game. Following the game on Friday, Rose said he was walking around and “everyone can breathe.”

It’s possible Rose’s absence on Saturday is purely a precaution. The Bulls are playing a back-to-back, and there is no need to rush Rose back onto the court this early in the season. Rose’s injury history won’t make it easy for Bulls’ fans to relax, however. He missed significant portions of the last two seasons and was just starting to look like his old self.

The Bulls beat the Wolves 106-105 on Saturday.
