Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul left Sunday afternoon's game against the Sacramento Kings at the end of the first quarter, walking back to the locker room with a left foot sprain, though he returned halfway through the second quarter.

Paul has averaged 63 games played per season in the last five years.


Paul exited the game with 17 seconds remaining in the opening quarter and headed to the locker room with Clippers head athletic trainer Jasen Powell. Paul was replaced at point guard by Jared Cunningham.
In his nearly 12 minutes in the opening period Paul scored two points -- on just 1-for-2 shooting -- with three assists and one steal. The seven-time All-Star averaged 17 points and 8.5 assists per game in the first two games of the season, both wins for the Clippers.
Paul returned to the game with 5:48 remaining in the second quarter.
Injuries have been a part of Paul’s career, with the point guard missing an average of 15 games per year over the last five seasons. Paul last played more than 70 games in a season in 2010-11.
