Ricky Rubio could miss 7-8 weeks with ankle injury, according to report

The good news is that Rubio’s ankle isn’t broken, but he still could miss nearly two months, according to a report.

Ricky Rubio is out indefinitely with an ankle sprain he suffered shortly before the half in Friday night's game against the Magic.

“Indefinitely” reportedly could means as long as 7-8 weeks, according to USA Today’s Jeff Zilgitt.

However, that’s the worst-case scenario. Rubio will be in a walking boot for two weeks, at which point he’ll be re-evaluated, according to CBS Sports’ Ken Berger.

As he drove into the lane, it appeared Rubio planted his left foot on right on the toe of Willie Green, causing it to roll severely. Rubio immediately buckled and had to be helped off the court, but X-rays on the ankle showed that it wasn't broken, according to Timberwolves PR. Minnesota eventually lost the game in overtime.

In his absence, Mo Williams took over the bulk of the duties at point guard, playing 31 minutes and recording seven assists but shooting just 1-7 with 4 points and two turnovers. It's likely that Zach LaVine, who saw eight minutes of action on Friday, will also spend some time at the position. He finished the game with four points and two assists in eight minutes of play.
