Bulls lose despite Derrick Rose’s game-tying, one-handed three-point bank shot

David Banks-USA TODAY Sports
So ... this is an absurd shot by Derrick Rose to send the Bulls-Mavericks game into double overtime. It’s basically a one-handed floater from three-point range that banked in. Sadly for the Bulls, it didn’t matter because the Mavericks hung on to win in double OT.
The Bulls will be kicking themselves, because this is why the game went to overtime in the first place.
The Bulls should have won then, but Kirk Hinrich fouled Monta Ellis on a three-pointer for some reason. There were only 1.7 seconds left, so why was Hinrich grabbing Ellis? What did he think would happen?
How dumb of a foul was that? Let’s ask Dirk:
Dirk on Kirk Hinrich's foul with 1.2 seconds left in regulation: "In my 17 years, it was one of the dumber fouls I've ever seen."
— Tim MacMahon (@espn_macmahon) December 3, 2014 Rose’s shot gave Hinrich some temporary relief, but Ellis got his revenge later, hitting the go-ahead three to give Dallas the lead for good in the second OT. Chicago will have to settle for being a player in the game of the year to date.
