NBA 3-Point Contest 2014: Time, TV schedule, participants and more
The 2014 NBA Three-Point Contest has an excellent field, including the two most recent winners and Stephen Curry.
Defending champion Kyrie Irving and 2012 winner Kevin Love are just a couple of the names in this year's star-studded three-point shootout. Like last year, there is a (totally unnecessary) East vs. West element in the contest, with the first round's top scorer from each conference advancing to the championship round. Here is the full list of participants for the 2014 NBA Three-Point Contest:
Eastern Conference:
Kyrie Irving, Cleveland Cavaliers
Western Conference:
Kevin Love, Minnesota Timberwolves
The competition will be a bit different this year, as players will have the option to make one shooting rack a full rack of “money balls,” worth two points each. This idea was first implemented in the NBA D-League’s version of the event in 2009.
Five of the eight players selected to compete will also be playing in Sunday’s All-Star Game, and there’s an argument that Afflalo should have been in the main event, too. There isn’t a weak link in the bunch.
You can watch the shootout live on TNT as a part of All-Star Saturday Night on Feb. 15. The festivities begin at 8:30 p.m. ET, and the Three-Point Contest is the third of four events.
